“Hi there, this is Joyce and my blue birdie ball’s nest.”
I am a freelance illustrator and multi-award-winning CG artist currently based in Seattle, driven by the emotional narratives I convey through my paintings, illustrations, and immersive environment art. My works have been featured on global CG platforms like Adobe Substance 3D and The Rookies, garnering recognition for their technical excellence and artistic vision.
My artistic journey began at York University's Visual Arts Department in Toronto, which set the foundation for my creative pursuits. Seeking further growth, I transferred to the United States and graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the winter of 2019 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, focusing on 2D animation and cinematic studies, with a foundation in Architectural Spatial Design that I built up in the early stage of my academic years.
Afterwards, I relocated to Los Angeles to continue my education at Gnomon - School of Visual Effects, Games & Animation. I firmly believe that an artist must maintain an open mind and stay at the forefront of industry advancements to produce meaningful art. In today's world, mastering 3D art is an essential aspect of this continuous learning process.
At Gnomon, I discovered a deep passion for real-time environment art and virtual production, building upon my previous experience in Architecture Design. The tragic fire that engulfed Notre Dame in 2019 reinforced my conviction that digital artists have a responsibility to preserve the world's architectural wonders through digital means. I am dedicated to exploring 3D environment creation as a way to safeguard our cultural heritage for future generations.
Throughout my academic career, a recurring theme in my work has been the "dream of gold." My environment art often evokes a surreal, dreamlike quality, imbued with a ghostly and celestial atmosphere. I strive to explore the relationship between players, audiences, and environments, creating immersive experiences that resonate on a profound level and naturalism.
